This month we intend to file paperwork to start the naturalization process for my wife, Christiane. Spouses of American citizens have only to wait three years to make this request, compared to the standard five years for all other applicants. This is by no means an “automatic” thing, and approval is not guaranteed. Cris will still have to take the tests of English and American civics, as well as face an interview or two and pass a criminal background check. I’m not sure how long this will all take, but I’ll post updates here from time to time.
